A perfect wedding at The Manor Rooms

September 26, 2019

We were lucky enough to photograph Louise and James’ wedding at The Manor Rooms in East Yorkshire recently. This was just the second ever wedding at the Manor Rooms, on the Drewton Estate, so we felt honoured to be documenting this beautiful boho wedding. It was lovely to work with Katie and her team at the Manor Rooms – we hope to book more weddings at this fabulous East Yorkshire wedding venue. As you’ll see below, Louise and James had the most wonderfully relaxed wedding and we are so happy we were there to photograph it for them. Louise and James said they just wanted everyone to have fun – I think it’s safe to say that was achieved and more!

For Louise and James (who are both super chilled out!) they just wanted to get on with having the best day and let us to do what we always do: photograph the day as naturally as possible. There were so many amazing moments for us to capture too!

Louise’s sister Rachel was a big part of the day – she wowed everyone with her singing in church and hand made the most amazing macrame wall hangings and other stunning decorations at the reception. As Louise mentions below, Rachel also helped Louise when she was choosing her dress – and what a dress! It really was one of the most stunning and unique wedding dresses we have ever photographed – Louise looked amazing! James looked very dapper in his suit too, we must add!

We asked Louise and James to tell us all about their wedding day, which is without doubt one of the most relaxed and fun weddings of the year, with Boho stylings, floral crowns, a stunning sunset, a perfect venue and magic by Josh Benson (that had everyone laughing!)

Why we chose The Manor Rooms: “We had planned everything quite quickly and at the point we were ready to book our venue The Manor Rooms was just foundations. We met with Katie and Lisa and they just got our vision. We could tell that they were so passionate about it that you could just tell everything would be amazing, so we went ahead and booked it. To describe the venue we would say: it’s laid back ellegance! When we the venue on the day, when it was finished, it was even better than we hoped.”

The flowers: “Beautiful boho flowers by the amazing Bloom and Bridal. The flowers they created really were stunning and finished off the venue styling perfectly! We had so many comments about how good they were.”

The dress: “I only visited two shops, all I knew was I wanted something with a bohemian vibe. Other than that I had an open mind! Chloe Jane Bridal and my sister actually picked the Zavana dress out and I just loved it. I liked that it was so detailed but at the same time not over the top!” – Louise

How we met: “We have been together about 8 years but have known each other longer. We got engaged in October last year. My mum was ill and it just made us both realise what is important and we thought – why are we waiting? So James asked me to marry him very casually on dog walk! We just wanted the wedding to be a day for everyone, completely laid back with no stress for anyone involved. That’s why we decided to plan everything so informally. We just wanted everyone to have fun!” – Louise

The photography: Louise and James left us the most lovely five star review: “Thank you, thank you, thank you! The pictures are more than what we hoped for and you captured the day perfectly. You made us feel at ease and half the time we didnt even realise you were there snapping away, allowing for the gorgeous natural pictures we wanted.” Thanks so much for the amazing feedback, it means so much to us!

Our own favourite image: in every blog, we are going to pick our own favourite image from the day and we absolutely love the image below of James and Louise’s on their couple shoot. Katie, the owner of the Manor Rooms, kindly drove us up to a beautiful spot on her estate for some photographs of James and Louise together. We don’t pose our couple shots, we don’t ask our couples to kiss or stage anything – we just let them be themselves. And James and Louise made each other laugh, a lot! In fact, they made us laugh all the way through the couple shoot too! As we walked, they carried on laughing and joking and we really love this natural moment – M and G Photographic.

Below you will find a selection of our other highlights from this amazingly relaxed boho wedding. We were only with Louise and James’ for half a day, but there were so many moments for us to capture in this short period of time!
