Victoria and Luke’s fun and relaxed Tipi Wedding – M and G Photographic

December 15, 2019

We are so excited about this blog! Victoria and Luke’s Tipi wedding in Yorkshire is one that will live so long in the memory. What a fantastic day it was – it was so much fun to photograph. Below you will find our favourite images from the day – as always, we pick our very favourite natural moments from the wedding to feature. This was particularly hard for Victoria and Luke’s wedding as there were so many amazing moments for us to capture – so much emotion, so many funny moments and above all, so many people having the very best day ever. We are thrilled that Victoria and Luke love the images and video we provided them with. Thanks for giving us the following feedback both of you:

“The best thing about our wedding is how amazingly well you guys captured it, your pictures and videography tell our story from start to finish. You were always in the background taking the most incredible, in the moment pictures which is more than we could have wished for! You are a friendly, talented bunch who know exactly how to capture the sheer emotions and brilliance of the day. When we first saw video and photographs of the day we cried. To have the best day of your lives captured in the way you guys did is priceless.

My advice to anyone since getting married is to choose wisely when it comes to your photographs and wedding video, it is the most precious memory you will have of your day to help you relive it over and over each year, and I will be recommending nobody but yourselves to everyone I know!” What lovely words! We love our job and know our couples love our photographs and images means the world to us.

Below you will find a selection of our favourite images. We could easily have posted the whole wedding but we had to cut it down to just our absolute favourites and this has taken us a long time to do! After the images, you can read more from Victoria and Luke as they talk through their wedding day and everything that made it so special.

The venue: We chose St Marys Church as it is so close to our families hearts, my parents got married there in 1984 and Luke’s family are all catholic so it always had to be there. We chose Papkata teepees because we knew we wanted a festival themed wedding, laid back, but a party atmosphere with live music to give it an Ibiza feel, and somewhere we could continue the party all weekend! Mackinder Farms are family friends and we liked the idea of having most of our friends to stay the whole weekend.

The dress: the dress was my dream, I didn’t know this until I tried it on, Chloe Jane was amazing and advised me to try it on, my face lit up as soon as I pulled it on for the first time. I felt a million dollars on the day and that’s because of the confidence the dress, and that veil, gave me!

How Luke and Victoria met: Luke and I have know each other around 12 years, and we married on the exact day we went on our first date, just seven years later! We met at a mutual friends house party, Sarah, who happened to be one of my bridesmaids. Although we were with different partners at that time, it was obvious from the beginning there was a spark, and five years later when both single we took the plunge out of the friend zone and have never looked back since! When you are planning your wedding day you have so many expectations of how it will be, its all guess work and you just hope it will all be as you planned, but our wedding day was better than we could have ever expected or imagined, it exceeded all expectations, our friends, our family, the bride and groom parties, they all made the day what it was, we are very lucky to have so many best friends, who we treat as family, to make our wedding day so amazing.

Favourite moments of the day: our favourite moments began from getting ready early in the morning, drinking prosecco with the girls out of teacups whilst being pampered and preened by the best team of girls, the lads sipping rum, whiskey, beer whatever they could get hold of to steady their nerves, arriving at church, both of us nothing more than excited to marry each other, no nerves, just bubbling with excitement! My dad, my best friend walking me down the aisle to my other best friend and soul mate at the top, the first kiss as a married couple, the outrageous games of beer pong, carnival games, and the dreaded beer funnel, the dancing, the drinking, the speeches, the love that we felt all day, the sheer happiness of feeling my mum all around us all day, and never being forgotten about once, our first dance accompanied by the best Saxophone player to our favourite dance classic, and finally the afterparty, being thrown around the dancefloor all night.

From start to finish our wedding day was the best, we can’t begin to put into words how amazing it was! Everybody involved in the day should be praised. They all made sure our wedding was the most magical day! Thanks to Papakata for their brilliant tipis, plus their expertise and hard work. James at Mackinder Farms for the brilliant space that he made look so beautiful on the day, and the well presented log cabins, cottage and hot tubs. Jonny Ross Music for providing the best sourced DJ and Saxophone player, music is what makes the day. Sparky our daytime DJ who gave us nothing but endless tunes of Motown and northern soul, my mums favourite so it really felt as if she was there! Chloe Jane for supplying me with the most beautiful dress and veil, and once upon a dress for making it fit me perfectly! Stag and Boy barbers in Selby for providing all the grooms party’s suits and shoes, and haircuts the night before the wedding! Joys Bella Bridesmaids for the beautiful bridesmaid dresses. Sister Sister bouquets (online) for our artificial bouquets and buttonholes who were so efficient and beautiful, and Lisa Florists of Selby for my own bouquet and lukes matching buttonhole, especially important as sunflowers were my mums fave. Dollz Confetti (online) for our gorgeous personalised confetti bags, I think confetti makes everyone happy! Hair by Amy Crackles and Katy Hawe at Elizabeth Horner, and makeup by Michaela Love and Bethany Lawrence, the best team of girls there are! Annika’s Apron for the most amazingly tasty day and evening food, and the gorgeous cake was Annika’s creation too.  Waterland Events for the posh portaloos, provided the cleanest, smartest portable toilets around! Add vintage (online) for the wonderful outdoor carnival games. And finally, you guys, probably the most important part to the day!

Thanks to Victoria and Luke for writing such a lovely overview of their amazing wedding day. We’d happily photograph it all over again tomorrow, it really was so much fun!
