We absolutely love being a The Normans Wedding Photographer. It such beautiful wedding venue in North Yorkshire. In fact it is one of the premier wedding venues in the region. We had been looking forward to this particular day at The Normans and it truly did not disappoint. Annie and James had planned such a wonderful celebration at this beautiful location.

Discovering The Normans as Wedding Photographers

As a proud The Normans wedding photographer, we love visiting new local venues. The Normans, just outside York, has a reputation for a beautifully lit and intimate ceremony room, and it did not disappoint. We also knew the venue offered an excellent guest experience, with its self-contained courtyard and multiple adjoining stables and rooms, allowing guests to move easily between all areas. Everything flowed beautifully, and the way the venue has been designed feels both thoughtful and welcoming. Surrounded by the North Yorkshire countryside, The Normans quickly became one of our favourite venues to photograph. We already have more weddings booked there and cannot wait to return.

Relaxed Preparations and Getting Ready

Annie and James’ day was wonderfully styled, with charming vintage details throughout. Annie looked stunning in her carefully chosen wedding dress, and James was equally dapper. Both got ready at their parents’ homes, giving us the perfect opportunity to capture relaxed, natural preparations. As always, there was no posing — we stayed in the background, photographing the excitement and quiet anticipation as the bridal party and groomsmen got ready. One particularly emotional moment came when Annie’s dad saw her in her dress for the first time.

Ceremony Full of Tears and Laughter

The ceremony room at The Normans is as intimate and beautiful as we had heard. The candles and fairy lights create a perfect ambient setting for our natural photography style. Throughout the service, there were both tears and laughter, making it a truly memorable and heartfelt ceremony to photograph.

A Quiet Couple’s Walk

After the ceremony, we accompanied Annie and James on a short walk to a nearby field to spend a little time alone together. We always recommend this, as the wedding day can be so hectic that it is difficult to have a private moment with your partner. This quiet stroll provided a perfect opportunity to capture relaxed, natural couple shots. Afterwards, we returned to The Normans for ice cream and drinks, which was a lovely treat for both younger and older guests alike.

Afternoon Tea and Guest Moments

Afternoon tea was served just before the speeches, with everyone enjoying sandwiches and cakes. Despite a few weather concerns earlier in the day, we were treated to bright sunshine throughout. After the speeches, which went down very well, guests moved outside to the courtyard for drinks. We always love this part of the day, as everyone is relaxed and enjoying themselves, whether chatting, playing games, or even sneaking a quick nap.

First Dance and Sunset Magic

The first dance was beautifully lit by fairy lights, and we did not need to use flash, allowing the natural ambiance to shine through in our images. As if the day could not get any better, we were treated to a stunning sunset. We followed Annie and James around the surrounding field to capture some truly memorable sunset photographs. They are such a kind, caring couple, and the images perfectly reflect the love they share.
