Nathan and Laura’s beautiful Suffolk wedding – Suffolk Wedding Photographer

December 8, 2019

This Summer we photographed Laura and Nathan’s stunning Suffolk Wedding. Below we pick our favourite natural images from their perfect wedding day and Nathan and Laura tell us all about their wedding day. Thank you Laura and Nathan for taking the time to write such lovely words!

The photography and video: So after we received our highlights video, within a week my parents have watched it 48 times between them… and counting! Then the photos? The photos you captured are nothing short of stunning! You made us feel so comfortable in front of the lens and managed to capture so many moments we had forgotten and missed – how did you manage to be everywhere? We will continue to shout your praises to anyone who listens. Choosing a photographer for us was one of the biggest decisions and something we spent a long time researching, but we knew as soon as we saw M and G Photographic we wanted you to capture our day and we know we made the right choice! Thank you so much, your professionalism. Plus your relaxed approach was exactly what we wanted.

The photos and videos are nothing short of stunning. You managed to capture so much detail and small intimate moments and we cannot thank you enough. It was strange as we never really felt your presence throughout the day and you managed to capture so much! You both made us feel so at ease and we didn’t feel we were behind the camera all day which neither of us wanted – Nathan especially! I remember you saying on the day how chilled out we both were and how refreshing it was and that’s exactly what we wanted and what you managed to capture. We love our photos and love our videos. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The venue: we chose our venue almost by fluke! Nathan attended school at Culford and it was suggested by a family member to enquire if they did weddings due to the beautiful main house and grounds. They did and the rest is history!

The dress: Nathan later said he never ever would have imagined me wearing my chosen dress as thought I’d wear fitted and Nathan has always loved a wild card, which is exactly what my dress was. My dress is by Kenneth Winston. I used to work in a bridal shop part time and I had always loved the designer funnily enough.  I tried on maybe 20-30 dresses of different styles etc but as soon as I saw the dress I knew it was the one before even trying it on. I put her on and instantly burst into tears, because I could imagine Nathan seeing me in it walking down the aisle and us dancing together! I walked out of the changing room to a room instantly full of tears which just confirmed my feelings. In 26* heat it was a tad warm, but I wouldn’t of had it any other way! My advice to other brides out there is don’t be afraid of wearing a hoop. It keeps the dress/layers from getting caught round your feet meaning its easier to walk and cooler! I also knew I wanted a veil, you only get once opportunity to wear one so I decided, go big or go home, hence the cathedral length veil! The wind on the day made for some fantastic photos!

How did you meet: we met at work. Nathan was the service manager and I worked in the service department. We became great friends and instantly clicked, constantly making each other laugh… which has never ceased. For some reason we always found an excuse for me to be downstairs in the workshop or him in the office upstairs where I worked! When we finally made it official, the whole office already knew! On our first date, I knew then he was the man I was going to spend the rest of my life with.

The big day: we wanted our day to be intimate, relaxed and most importantly for us (hence the penguin and rugby theme!). We aimed for traditional but still personal and I think we achieved that really well. The quote of the day by a friend summed it up perfectly “It feels like we are in Downton Abbey” and that’s exactly how we felt. The intimacy and warmth (not just from the sun) practically filled the grounds and great hall.  Sitting on the bench seeing everyone we love playing games in the sunshine with the champagne flowing was just lovely.

Your favourite moments of the day: I had so many favourite moments on our day! One was definitely walking down the aisle. I have never felt so happy and complete in my entire life. I could have skipped down if my dad hadn’t been holding on to me! Seeing Nathan looking back at me and seeing him melt just felt incredible. He said his absolute favourite moment was turning round to see me walking down the aisle to him to his favourite song (To Build a Home by The Cinematic Orchestra). Also saying our vows. The vows are so important to both of us and I remember us looking into each other’s eyes and thinking we really mean every single word of this. Lastly our first dance, which is something I didn’t expect. The room was full of people but we both said after, it truly felt like only us in the room.

The suppliers: my dress was brought from Lavender and Jude an independent shop in Bungay. Highly recommend Claire to everyone, she is so lovely and extremely helpful! I told her I wanted timeless, classic yet a tad wow and she completely understood. And Make Up By Rosie, she was just incredible. All the girls felt totally at ease, especially as makeup is such a personal and intimate thing I think. She stayed until I left for the church doing last minute touch ups (especially after all the tears with the reveal to my dad). The girls all looked incredible and she took so much time and care getting every single person ready. Suffolk Hog Roast Company – the food was absolutely delicious and his roast potatoes have become legendary between our guests!

Our own favourite image: we like to pick our own favourite image from weddings that we blog and say a little about how we captured the moment for our couple.

Laura and Nathan’s confetti

We love this image as using larger, ticker tape confetti is so unusual and it really makes the image special. Everyone’s eyes are on Nathan and Laura, smiling and laughing, there’s not a camera or phone in sight which is lovely – everyone is really experiencing the moment and this helps the viewer do the dame. Then the two large pieces of confetti are perfectly (and perhaps we admit, luckily!) placed. All these elements draw the eye to Laura and Nathan. It’s one of our favourite ever confetti shots and right now you can find it proudly placed on the main page of our website.

Below you’ll find our other favourite images from this beautiful Suffolk wedding.
