We take a look back at this wonderful wedding at one of our favourite Yorkshire wedding venues. Skidby Mill is an historic windmill situated in East Yorkshire. It is a beautiful building surrounded by the Wolds. The Wolds make wonderful scenery to photograph within. We love working at this beautiful venue whenever we can. It’s great to be able to call ourselves a Skidby Millhouse Wedding Photographer! Below you will find a selection of our favourite images. Then we will talk through just why we love to work at the Millhouse at Skidby Windmill so much.
Natural images of a beautiful wedding
We are proud to be a Skidby Millhouse Wedding Photographer. A big thanks to Dan for shooting this wedding with us. Dan has worked as an associate photographer for us many times. He is so talented and very successful in his own right. It’s great when he joins us here at M and G Wedding Photography to work for us. We photograph weddings in a very natural style. No posing or staging. With us a photographer weddings simply unfold and we capture the day as it happens. We concentrate on documenting beautiful moments for our couples to remember forever. We used our professional Nikon cameras to shoot the images you can see. We only ever use the very best cameras and lenses and always bring back up equipment. We’ve never had to utilise our back-ups but it’s reassuring to our couples to know we are fully prepared for any eventuality.
Loren and Adam’s beautiful summer wedding
We had such a fantastic time photographing Loren and Adam’s Skidby Mill wedding. Starting with images of both Loren and Adam getting ready it was a relaxed atmosphere. Both our bride and our groom were clearly excited for the day to come. Maybe there were a few nerves too but that is always to be expected! After Loren put on her beautiful bridal gown, her dad entered the room. He could not hold back his emotions. We always love photographing this special moment between a bride and her father. It often brings happy tears which make for getting reportage style images. After these emotional moments it was onto the Skidby Windmill for the ceremony.
A wonderful wedding ceremony
As we approached the venue we could see the windmill dominating the skyline. It is apparent even from afar. As soon as you glimpse the mill excitement really starts to build. The wedding service was beautiful with tears and laughter aplenty. After a romantic first kiss it was out into the gardens and into the sun. Here Loren and Adam’s guests threw confetti and enjoyed drinks on the lawn. There is a gin bar that is awakes a treat for people to enjoy.
Set within stunning Yorkshire countryside
For a wedding venue set within miles of rolling Yorkshire hills look no further than the Millhouse at Skidby Windmill. Appropriately for a Windmill, the wedding venue is surrounded by wheat fields. On Loren and Adam’s day we were blessed with glorious sunshine meaning we could take a stroll outside. We walked within the fields of wheat taking some photographs of Loren and Adam. Completely unposed as is our style, we just let our happy couple be themselves. Then we took a walk over towards the windmill itself.
An historic windmill wedding venue
The Millhouse wedding venue is attached to the old Windmill buildings. The Millhouse is now a popular museum and tourist attraction. Run by East Yorkshire Museums Services the museum shows how the windmill used to make stone ground flour. It is a beautiful Grade II listed building and is an iconic landmark. Placed at the top of high hill, you can see the windmill from miles around, not just within the small village of Skidby. In conclusion the Windmill adds something so special to the Millhouse as a wedding venue. It’s the perfect backdrop for photographs too.
The Millhouse at Skidby has so much to offer
The Millhouse is such a versatile location. It has a rooftop lounge as well as the main bar and restaurant areas on the ground floor. So it really is a perfect location for large and small wedding parties. What’s more you don’t just have to have a traditional silver service meal. There is the option to have a BBQ or hog roast on the terrace. Or a vegan or vegetarian buffet of course! The Millhouse in Skidby is also an award-winning restaurant. So it follows that as a wedding venue it is well known for its delicious menus whatever choices you make. With a well-stocked bar and expert bar staff, the venue is part of the Iconic Venues Group. We cannot recommend it enough to any couple considering it as their dream location for their wedding day.
Award winning service from M and G Wedding Photography
We have won many awards over the many years we have been professional photographers. The biggest award of all was been named as the Best Wedding Photogrpaher in Yorkshire and the North East.
