Having photographed weddings all over the UK and abroad for many years, we are very experienced. Over the years we’ve developed our own unique style. We photograph all the emotion, fun and special moments of a wedding day. We do all this without posing. However we still ensure our images look beautiful, from taking them right through to editing every one of them individually ourselves. Some documentary photographers present everything in a very raw way. We come from a fine art background though and this can be seen in our work. We make sure our images are not just of real and unposed moments – but also, photographed and edited with real artistic flair. Our couples want to be left to enjoy their wedding day. Our couples also want wedding photography that is beautiful and timeless. This is what we deliver every time.

Your wedding day is so important to us

We can only take on a limited number of weddings every year. We do this to ensure we can give your big day all the attention it deserves. Also, though we are very relaxed and natural in our style, it’s your wedding day. You plan your day for months and year and your plans and ensure everything goes as you want it is so important to us. So if you want some more traditional group shots on your wedding day, don’t worry. We’ll still take these more formal shots for you. We just will never let a few formal shots get in the way of you having the best day ever. No one wants to stand in a line all day waiting to be photographed! So if you want some, leave the formal shots to us and we’ll do the rest.

A beautiful wedding venue near Howden

Saltmarshe Hall is situated near the East Yorkshire towns of Selby and Howden. It is a quite simply stunning wedding venue, set within 17 acres of beautiful grounds. The gardens are perfectly manicured and really do set Saltmarshe apart. There are many luxury wedding venues but none in Yorkshire have such wonderful grounds. Gardens that are beautiful whether you visit in Spring or Winter. So for wedding photography, it really is the perfect location.

A luxury wedding location with wonderful owners

The hall was was built in 1825-8 by Prichett and Watson for Philip Saltmarshe and cost £4000. The stables were later added in 1842. In the last 900 years, the land has been owned by only three different families. The current owners of Saltmarshe Hall are Kate and Roland Whyte. We know Kate particularly well from our many times working at the Hall and she is a fantastic venue owner. The team at Saltmarshe Hall run every wedding day to perfection. They will ensure that if you pick Saltmarshe as your dream wedding venue, you will have your dream wedding day.

So many options for your wedding ceremony

The Hall itself is stunning from the outside and from within. For your wedding ceremony, you can get married inside in the morning room. The morning room is such an incredibly bright space. It photographs so well and also, is such a lovely space for you and your guests. Or you can get married outside under tree cover, or within the walled rose gardens. There really is so much choice for your wedding ceremony and all your celebrations at Saltmarshe! You will be spoiled for choice when planning your day.

A luxury hotel with an outdoor swimming pool

The hall is not just a wedding venue, but also a hotel. It has the added touch of featuring an outdoor pool. The pool is perfect for a BBQ the day before or day after a wedding venue. As for the hotel rooms, they are perfect for you and your guests. Particularly for getting ready the day of your wedding, they such relaxing spaces. The recently refurbished bridal suite is a large and bright room and we love photographing the preparations for a wedding day there. There are plenty of other rooms too for you and your wedding guests to utilise, not to mention a fantastic bar. Lastly, the food really is special! We have eaten many meals at Saltmarshe Hall and the food is always beautifully made and presented.

Stunning views over the River Ouse

Running alongside the Hall is the River Ouse. The sixth longest river in the UK and running through York, Goole and Selby, the Ouse is an impressive sight. You can take a walk through the gardens, up to the river bank and take it all in on your wedding day. And if you are lucky enough to get a sunset on your wedding day, we really do walking up to the river. Walking along the river is the perfection way to enjoy setting sun. Also it’s a great place to get some golden hour photography. So if you do get a sunset, we will be ready to take some beautiful images of it for you.

We cannot say how much we love Saltmarshe Hall. It really is one of the finest wedding venues in the whole of the UK. At the end of 2019, we were given the award for the Best Wedding Photographers in our region. This award was given to us by The Wedding Industry Awards. We have won many awards. However to be named the very best photographers in not just our local area, but the surrounding area – including Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Northumberland – too, it was a huge honour. To win the award your couples vote for you – and we received full marks from our couples, with each one giving us 10/10 in every area – and then a group of the best wedding photographers in the country and the world judge your work. So it’s an incredibly tough award to win. It’s not the only award we’ve won though. We have now won well over 50 awards, including Fearless and This Is Reportage awards. These are two of the very hardest awards to win in our industry.
