Riverlands Wedding Photographer

July 6, 2025

We were absolutely thrilled to photograph Jenny and Malcolm’s wedding at the stunning Riverlands wedding venue in East Yorkshire. Nestled in the East Riding countryside, Riverlands is one of our all-time favourite barn venues – and Jenny and Malcolm’s day reminded us exactly why. With a beautiful church ceremony followed by relaxed, fun-filled celebrations back at the barn, the whole day was full of heartfelt moments, big laughs, and everything that makes a wedding unforgettable.

It was such an honour to capture every part of the day. From the quiet, emotional exchanges to the dance floor antics later on. Jenny and Malcolm’s wedding was full of real, honest moments, and we feel so lucky to have been there to document it all. Their slideshow gives a true sense of what an incredible day it was – a story told through the little glances, the big embraces, and everything in between. Just two of the loveliest people, surrounded by so much love and joy.

Jenny and Malcolm planned a wedding that was truly their own. A day full of personality, heart, and little touches that reflected who they are, both individually and as a couple. From guests getting stuck into crossword puzzles to a brilliant ceilidh that got everyone on their feet, every part of the day felt thoughtful, relaxed, and joyfully them. It was an amazing day to be a part of – and we’re so proud to say that some of the images we captured have gone on to win a number of awards.

Among these was a This is Reportage Story Award – one of the most prestigious and competitive accolades in documentary wedding photography. Story Awards celebrate consistent storytelling across a full wedding, not just individual moments, so to be recognised in this way means a great deal to us. We’ve been honoured to be named This is Reportage Photographers of the Year two years running – and photographing days like Jenny and Malcolm’s is exactly why we love what we do.

Riverlands is one of those venues that just feels right every time we return. Off the beaten track in East Yorkshire, it’s beautifully laid-back with just the right mix of rustic charm and modern touches. The flow of the space makes it a joy to photograph. From the light-filled barn to the cosy corners and open fields, it’s the kind of place that allows a wedding day to unfold naturally. And that’s exactly what we love most: nothing forced, nothing overly staged – just people being themselves, surrounded by the people they love.

As documentary wedding photographers, that’s what we’re all about. We don’t direct or interfere — we observe, we wait, we anticipate. We capture real moments as they happen, telling the full story of the day through honest, emotive imagery. Over the years, this approach has led us to win more major awards for documentary wedding photography than anyone else in the UK – something we’re incredibly proud of. But what matters most to us is this: that our couples feel truly seen in their photos. That the laughter, the tears, the chaos, the calm – it’s all there, just as it was. That’s the magic we aim for, every single time.
