We have been lucky enough to photography many weddings at the KP in Pocklington over the years. So when Kelly and Martin asked us to photograph their day, we knew they had picked a fantastic East Yorkshire wedding venue. We’ve picked out some of our favourite images from the day and as the photos below show Kelly and Martin and all their guests had the very best day.
Kelly and Martin are such a lovely couple and we loved be able to document their day for them. We asked them to tell us more about their wedding day, in their words, for this blog:
The KP: “We viewed the KP just after viewing a number of other venues and we just knew this was the one that more suited us. The KP is an amazing wedding venue in a beautiful setting. Also we felt put at ease by Jessie and the other KP staff who were involved in the run upto our wedding.
The Dress: I choose my dress with help from a few of my amazing bridesmaids, my nana and my mum. Freddie and Kaiden were also there – after trying on 7 other dresses I just knew this was the one and they helped me to make my final choice too. The dress just felt comfortable and I felt a million dollars in it!
The bridesmaids: The bridesmaid dresses were an absolute nightmare! Getting dresses that were like the pictures we saw online was so difficult, as was getting everyone to like them (which was easy with the dresses they wore as they all loved them straight away) and choosing sizes. But then I saw the dresses we chose on a wedding group on Facebook. I just fell in love with them and ordered them straight away.
The suits: The suits I had no say in them whatsoever – Martin chose them and organised everyone to go for fittings and also picked all the little extras to go with them. They were perfect in every way and the lads all looked brill! The little boys’ outfits were also a nightmare, I knew what I wanted but they were so hard to find, in the end I found what I was looking for and they just looked the best. Getting shirts to fit them all that were the same was a challenge as well as the shoes that they wore.
How Kelly and Martin met: well this is funny! We met through Martin messaging me on Facebook on the 1st of January 2017. After a lot of messages back and fourth we then decided to meet. He picked me up from my friends house and we went back to his house for a takeaway and a few drinks – and to watch the Leeds match obviously! I just never left him after that.
Then in May I got diagnosed with cancer. Me and Martin had only been together for 5 months and it was a massive shock. It just made us inseparable and like we’d known each other years and years.
The decorations and details: Some of the girls helped me with the decorations one Saturday night which was a massive help and I can’t thank them enough they all did a fab job.
The photography: We honestly can’t thankyou enough for the amazing pictures. It took us 3 hours last night to get through them all and definitely relived the whole day. You guys do an amazing job and we are so happy with the photos we love them so much. Thank you for your time and patience and for getting our images to us really quickly we really do appreciate it. Thankyou again, we absolutely loved you both been part of our special day, you are an amazing couple and we would recommend you to anyone that wants photography. Everything was perfect from start to finish and we can’t thankyou guys enough for the amazing service you provided for us and the fantastic photos that we have received and for making us feel so at ease.”
Our favourite shot: we select our favourite image from every wedding we blog and for Kelly and Martin’s wedding, it’s this one from the speeches pictured below. The speeches were so emotional – as Kelly mentions above, she was diagnosed with cancer early on in her and Martin’s relationship. When Martin talked about this in his speech, there was not a dry eye in the house. It was a lovely speech and we love this real and very emotional moment, showing Kelly in the foreground crying and Martin pictured in the background giving his speech. It was so hard to pick just one image though! The rest of our favourites are below.
