Halloween Wedding Ideas

October 14, 2020

Planning a halloween wedding? Or just planning a wedding in autumn? If so, this blog is definitely for you! As a wedding photographer, we love nothing more than an autumn wedding. So this blog is packed full of Halloween wedding ideas and more, we hope you enjoy looking through the images below. And then we’ll take you through some tips for your autumnal wedding.

Autumn time is the best time!

We absolutely love photographing weddings in the Autumn. There is no better time for light – it takes on a golden hue all through the afternoon. Also, the colours on the trees are always breathtaking. The reds, golds and yellows of the leaves make autumn such a beautiful season for photographing. So we really love Autumn weddings – add into the mix Halloween and you have something really special. You’ll find images from Halloween themed weddings above – as well as photographs from some of our favourite autumn weddings too.

Pumpkin details are perfect for halloween

So if you’re planning a Halloween wedding – where better to start than pumpkin carving. Pumpkins make a really pretty yet rustic decoration for any halloween or autumnal wedding. You’ll see above they come in all shapes and sizes! And you can adorn not only the inside, but the outside of your wedding venue too. You can choose to carve the pumpkins for the full halloween effect, or leave them as they are for a more natural look.

Oh my gourd!

It’s not just pumpkins that you can use for decorations – gourds are fantastic autumn wedding decorations too. Gourds are smaller than pumpkins and make a really cute addition to your table decorations.

Subtle additions and decorations

Halloween decorations don’t have to be flashy or over the top – you can keep them subtle, with just hints. Or use Halloween as just inspiration for colours. Reds and blacks can add a gothic look to your wedding and really make your celebration stand out, just as some of our couples have done above. Of course you can eschew subtle and understated – why not get in someone to give a fantastic pyrotechnics display as we once photographed!

A stunning black Maggie Sottero wedding gown

Halloween touches don’t need to be restricted to the decorations! You can go all out and choose a black wedding dress. The black wedding gown in the wedding photographs above is designed by Maggie Sottero. It’s beautiful bridal dress and will definitely add a stunning flash of gothic glamour to your wedding day.

Non traditional wedding cakes

When you’re considering Halloween wedding ideas, you may start to think about non traditional or alternative wedding cakes. Why not try a black cake like the one above?

Some amazing wedding venues perfect for your celebrations

Our blog features several beautiful wedding venues: Little Wold Vineyard, The Beverley Barn, Ripley Castle, Thornbridge Hall and All Saints Chapel.
