Welcome to our new blog series, where we’ll be looking back at the last few months of weddings. 2022 wedding season has started off so beautifully, with so many amazing weddings already photographed. What’s more, Hollie has returned to shooting weddings. Hollie took some time off last year after the arrival of our son, Hugo. Hollie is absolutely loving being back photographing weddings this year and also, of course, editing all the images you see from us (as I type this Hollie is breastfeeding Hugo while editing some previews from a recent wedding – she takes multi tasking to a new level). We will be shooting weddings together this year, plus some separately – and we will call upon some incredible photographers to second shoot for us too, when needed.
2022 has already been an incredible year for us. Earlier this year, we won the Wedding Photographer Of The Year Award at the The Wedding Industry Awards in London. It’s the biggest, most prestigious award in our industry – and we were completely blown away to have won it. We’ll be writing a blog on winning the award – as well finally finishing our best of 2021 blog! – soon. But for now, here are we are on Mother’s Day this year, enjoying an atmospherically foggy day on the beach with our lovely family.
February and March wedding photography
It’s been a fantastic year already at work. Winning the TWIA award was the perfect start to the year -and since then, we’ve photographed so many weddings. Here are some of our favourite moments from February and March 2022 – please let us know which images are your favourites in the comments below! All the images on this blog are taken by and copyright Patrick Mateer and Hollie Mateer (M and G Wedding Photography).
The Best UK Wedding Venues
The following amazing UK wedding venues are featured in this blog: Berkeley Castle, Cripps Barn, Dunedin, The Normans, Villa Farm Barns, Thicket Priory and Rise Hall. Thanks so much to our good friends Barnaby Staniland, Karl Chester and Dan Morris who have helped us second shooting and assisting during February and March. And of course a huge thank you for all our couples for choosing us to photograph their wedding day. What an amazing start to 2022! We can’t wait to photograph so many more amazing weddings soon.
Documentary Wedding Photography
We specialise in documentary wedding photography. That means no posing or staging – we just want our couples to enjoy the day and forget about us! That’s how we capture the natural images of the best moments. We let couples and guests relax around us and they quickly get used to us running around taking unposed photos from all angles! We want our couples and their guests to be themselves, with no influence from us. We do also take some natural couple shots and a few group shots if couples would like them (you can read about how we take our couple shots here). But otherwise our couples can expect pure documentary photography from us. Our couples can relax and enjoy the best day ever – and then that’s exactly what our images of their wedding will show!
