Emily and Luke got married at the Stunning Orangery at Settrington in Yorkshire. One of our favourite local wedding venues, it really is a stunning location to get married. We first met Emily and Luke back in 2020, it was actually the day the first restrictions were announced for Covid in the UK. As we walked around Manchester chatting, we had no idea of what was to come over the next 18 months. Emily and Luke are a really lovely couple – and it was so sad to see their own wedding plans get postponed and postponed again. So when their day finally happened, back in July 2021, we were so pleased Emily and Luke could have their day at last. Below you’ll find some of our favourite images from this beautiful Yorkshire wedding – then Emily and Luke themselves chat to us about what made their wedding day so special.
A wonderful Yorkshire wedding celebration
Below Emily and Luke talk through their beautiful wedding day at the Orangery At Settrington and why it was the amazing day it was. We loved photographing their day and we are so pleased they love their photos – getting to know Emily and Luke a little over the past few years was a real pleasure too. Such a lovely couple – and they know how to throw a fantastic party too!
The perfect Yorkshire wedding venue
“Emily grew up around the area but never actually knew this hidden gem was just a short drive away. We were really keen to find somewhere that we didn’t feel like it was a ‘one in, one out’ job. We wanted to find suppliers that weren’t just bothered about the pay check, but were genuinely interested in getting to know us as a couple. After looking at a handful of venues, we eventually found The Orangery. We knew as soon as we met Karen & Sara and saw the venue that it was the one. Throughout our journey they spent so much time and effort getting to know us personally, which meant they knew exactly what we wanted in our wedding. They just got it so right, and they are perfectionists like ourselves which helped! They also only do up to 12 weddings a year, meaning we could spend the days before our wedding prepping. They also have a 4 bed cottage within the grounds which you can stay in, it was so perfect for family and also the bridal party the night before the big day!
Such a happy wedding ceremony
Well if we don’t say the actual ceremony, we wouldn’t feel right! The ceremony was perfect – better than we envisioned. We both couldn’t wipe the grins from our faces throughout the whole thing. Obviously because we were FINALLY getting married after over 3 years of being engaged and planning our big day, but also because it was the first time we saw so many of our friends and family. Seeing smiles on all their faces all day really made us so happy!!
A Berta Bridal wedding gown
I got my dress from Berta Bridal…. It was fait when we went to NYC for a city break and I managed to get a last minute appointment at my favourite dress designer! I found one I LOVED and it ended up coming home in my suitcase – I’ve never being so nervous to get my luggage home! The bridesmaid dresses were equally as beautiful from Jarlo, a couple of my bridesmaids were extra tall so needed to make sure we could have them tailored!
Luke bought his full suit from Moss Bros, along with the groomsmen. Our little groomsmen had mini suits from Roco.
Advice for anyone planning a wedding
Don’t make any rash decisions! You can only do it once so make sure you’re 1000% happy with a supplier/venue before you push the button. Also start with your venue and you will find the rest will naturally fall alongside. If it means you need to wait an extra year or two to save and get exactly what you want, then do it. It is nice looking back and having no regrets on the day, ‘I wish I did that’ or ‘it would have been better if we had this’. One thing we were contemplating was a videographer – hands down the best decision we made! Although we absolutely LOVE our photos so much and can’t stop looking at them (thanks Patrick!), the video brings the day to life.
Beautiful wedding photography
We can’t thank M&G enough for our pictures, I feel like they’ve captured the day so well. The best thing about it is that we only took about 10-15 minutes out of our day to have ‘a walk’ and get some nice pictures of just the two of us, and then the rest are so natural – we really didn’t want to be taken away from an hour because we wanted to see every moment! When we got our pictures back I was surprised how many they were and how subtle they were taking them all, we really couldn’t tell they were even there and just blended in the background.
