Earlier in 2019, Gemma and Ethon got married at Cave Castle in East Yorkshire. We were lucky enough to be chosen to photograph their day – wow, what a day it was too! We absolutely love Cave Castle and being a Yorkshire Wedding Photographer we are privileged to work their regularly. Gemma looked absolutely stunning in her dress and Ethon was very dapper in his military regalia! We had such a good time with them and all their guests.
We asked Gemma and Ethon – who are such a lovely couple! – to tell us all about their day:
How Gemma and Ethon first met: We met each other through a mutual friend. Our friend had told Ethon to message me but at first I just wasn’t interested in striking up a conversation through social media. It wasn’t until a few months later that I was staying down South with my cousin. My cousin decided to send Ethon a random message on my phone! I was fuming at the time, but it striked up a conversation. It was then when I returned to Hull that we met up. I remember seeing Ethon for the first time I was blown away with how handsome and gentlemanly he was. We were inseparable after that.
The Proposal: On our 5th year anniversary Ethon proposed to me at our favourite restaurant. Then it was full steam ahead with the wedding planning! I being very organised had everything sorted and booked within the first year.
Cave Castle: Our venue was Cave Castle Hotel in South Cave. This was only the second venue we viewed but we were so blown away with how beautiful the grounds and castle were. We just knew this was the perfect place for us.
The dress and bridesmaids dresses: Not long after this I found my perfect wedding dress at Wed2be in Hull. It barely needed any alterations. I found my bridesmaid dresses on ASOS. I remember sending the girls them and to my surprise they all loved them! So i quickly ordered them.
The Suits: The Groomsmen all got their suits from a shop in Princes Quay. They all looked so smart. Ethon is a military man so of course he was going to be in Uniform. Wow he looked so handsome on our wedding day. I fell in love all over again. When I saw him standing at the end of aisle! I think this would have to be my favourite moment from our big day.
The photography: “After searching for hours for the perfect photographer, I was ready to give up. I was scrolling through facebook one evening and a wedding photograph popped up. I was stunned by how beautiful it was captured. I looked at the tag and saw M and G Wedding Photography. I knew then that I had to book! I spoke to my partner and he agreed. We spent hours looking through M and G’s albums and could not wait to have them capture our wedding. It was happening! We booked it. M and G Wedding Photography stayed in contact with us and was happy to answer any questions or worries we had about the day. We felt so at ease and comfortable talking with him, we just knew our day was going to be captured how we imagined. What we loved most about M and G Wedding Photography was how interested they were in getting to know us.
M and G were so amazing on our wedding day. Not once did it feel imposing being captured throughout the full day. We felt as if he was our family member because we were so comfortable. Our photographs are truly amazing and we cannot begin to thank M and G enough. The scenic photographs are our favourite. We have had so many comments about how stunning they are. My advice to any couples looking for a wedding photographer, BOOK M and G! You will thank us later. Lots of love to the team at M and G, keep doing what you are doing!
Our favourite image: for each blog we pick our own favourite image that we captured on the day and we absolutely love this confetti shot that M and G Wedding Photography took. M and G positioned himself so he could capture Gemma and Ethon at the forefront of the frame but placed them to left, so he could include the context of the hand throwing the confetti. By framing it this way rather than centrally and just showing Gemma and Ethon, it really tells the story of the moment.
