It all started in November when we were named as Best Wedding Photographers for Yorkshire and the North East at the 2020 Wedding Industry Awards (the TWIAS). This was an amazing honour and to win an accolade like this really has been unbelievable. It has been the biggest and most prestigious award we have ever won and without a doubt a highlight of our year. Along with winning in our own category, lots of other amazing suppliers from the Yorkshire and the North East won a TWIA award on the same night. This brings us to the photograph below! Left to right you can see: Anna & Gayle from Where The Ribbon Ends (Cake Designers), Emily from Emily K Weddings (Venue Stylist), Katie from the Garden Studio (Wedding Florist) and us! That’s Hollie and Patrick from M and G Photographic (and our one year old, Harrison, who did a great job assisting and being cute at the shoot!)

So how did four TWIA Award Winning wedding companies come to bump into other at a beautiful wedding venue we hear you ask? Well, it wasn’t quite the coincidence it first appears… Last week, we were asked if we would be able to document several TWIA winning suppliers at a mini styled shoot, at the fabulous Yorkshire wedding venue Priory Cottages. We thought this was such a lovely idea!
As part of the TWIA judging for the UK finals, in the cake and florist sections, suppliers are asked to put together and document all new creations for judging, recording every step of the creative process.
Gayle from Where The Ribbon Ends hit upon the fantastic idea of doing something a little extra special. Gayle thought why not show her creations in the context of a beautiful wedding venue, rather than just inside her studio. Then she thought, why not ask fellow award winning wedding suppliers to get involved too? We were then asked if we would be able to take some images of all this and we of course said yes!
So, Gayle led organising the shoot and was able to gather together several award winning suppliers in an Instagram group including ourselves. With Christmas fast approaching and wedding season still going strong, everyone’s diary was very full to say the least. Nonetheless, a date was set to meet up for the shoot – and the date was the next day! So it was all go, with us all meeting at Priory Cottages bright and early. As well as images, we also offered to record some video too, as a filmmaker wasn’t available at short notice. Though they could not attend the shoot in person, another 2020 TWIA Award winning supplier, Bianco Blanc Paperie (wedding stationers), also provided beautiful work for the shoot, as did the amazing Raspberry Toast.
Above all, we saw this as an opportunity to get together with some amazingly talented people from our industry. Also, we are always happy to help our fellow professionals whenever we can. And what an incredibly accomplished group of people had been assembled at Priory Cottages, all at the top of their profession. Most importantly they were all so lovely too. We think everyone should be extremely proud of what they achieved.
The cake Anna and Gayle produced was so incredible and Katie created stunning floral arrangements, plus a beautiful bouquet. Then, everything was styled elegantly by Emily, with beautiful flourishes of course added by Bianco Blanc Paperie and Raspberry Toast. Each individual element was stunning. But all together, even more so, everything looked really beautiful. It was a true collaboration, with everyone working together so well on the day.
Below you will find a selection of our favourite images from the shoot. We loved working all the suppliers present. We can’t congratulate Anna, Gayle, Emily, Katie and Bianco Blanc Paperie enough – each one of your awards were so thoroughly deserved. We feel like we’ve made new friends and look forward to working with you again. Also, we cannot wait to see all of you at the UK TWIA finals in January. It’s going to be a fantastic night we are sure!
What a beautiful mini styled shoot this was, all pulled together in record time, but still managing to look perfect. We loved photographing and videoing it all. Below is a second group shot, minus Patrick (and baby Harrison!)

Patrick decided to take this one just before we left, with Harrison assisting of course (and by assisting, we mean getting a little bit grumpy – we’re waiting until he’s two before putting him to work).
Good to luck to every regional winner from all over the country at the UK TWIA finals in January – we look forward to seeing you all again then. Also, thanks to Priory Cottages (a beautiful wedding venue near York) for let us use your lovely location.
