This week we learned that one of our favourite images from last year has won a prestigious wedding photography award. We absolutely loved photographing Kelly and Adam’s wedding day at West Carlton Country Guest house. We are delighted to have won an award for the image below. Thank you so much to Ninedots and their judges. Each judge was themselves an award winning wedding photographer. So to receive an award from them means so much to us.
A post meltdown sleep!
This image was taken at Kelly and Adam’s amazing Yorkshire wedding. It was at a venue we know and love – we always look forward to a West Carlton Country House wedding! Our award winning image shows an exhausted flower girl taking a pre wedding nap. She was exhausted due to an almighty meltdown! A solid hour crying at least meant she eventually collapsed on the bed asleep. Even the bride Kelly and her bridesmaids getting the wedding dress could not wake her. That is what makes this image so special. It’s such an unusual and real moment to photograph. It is not your ‘standard’ wedding image. Our image shows how hectic a wedding morning can be. However it also shows how oblivious to it all children can be!

When we posted the good news about winning the award Kelly and Adam commented: “Congratulations! This is one of our favourite photographs from our wedding. That meltdown was one I’ll never forget, I’m sure the bride is meant to have these kind of moments!” Such lovely feedback. We are so pleased they love this image as much as we do!

Capturing real moments is what we love to do. We work in a documentary wedding photography style. This means we capture memories for our couples without staging things. No posing and no faking things. By letting moments unfold naturally without direction we are able to let people be themselves. Our images are about people they are not about ourselves. So we capture real moments and we capture memories for our couples to treasure.

We class ourselves a Yorkshire wedding photographer. Nevertheless though we are based in Yorkshire we photograph weddings all over the UK and abroad. We have won many awards for our work. Ninedots is an amazing online community. Created by the award winning wedding photographers Andy Gaines, Adam Johnson and Rahul Kahona it really is fantastic place to be a part of. An online community that brings together the very best in wedding photography, Ninedots is such a valuable resource. Wedding photographers share work and ideas. NineDots wedding photographers can seek advice and support each other. It is fair to say we are incredibly proud to be a NineDots wedding photographer. Every two months NinDots runs their wedding photography awards. We have now won a fantastic four Ninedots wedding photography awards since joining in late 2019. Kids do the funniest things!
Collating our NineDots award winning wedding photography has been great. It has also made us realise they all have one thing in common. All four of our NineDots award winning images feature children! As documentary wedding photographers we are always looking for the best moments to capture. Children are often completely un-self conscious in front of the camera. Also they often do very funny things. So this combination means they often provide some of the very best moments at a wedding for us to photograph.
