This wedding editing blog will give you an update on how long editing each wedding is taking us during this exceptionally busy year.
Usually, in pre-covid times, a wedding would take us 8-12 weeks to edit and deliver. As you already know, there has been a slight increase in this time frame this year, due to how busy I have been. So every one of our couples has been affected by this – and every couple has expected to receive their images from us a little later than usual. I wanted to be open and honest about this from early on, and I am incredibly thankful to every one of our couples for being so patient and so understanding that this slightly extended wait has been completely unavoidable.
We had to take on this extra work after last year – not just for our business though, more so that we wanted to fit everyone in who sadly had to rearrange their wedding, often many times. I didn’t want to let anyone down and I’m so proud to have accommodated you all and have photographed your wedding to the highest level, as I always do.
All of this has impacted on edit times though. In real terms, my workload has increased by at least three times throughout July to October this year – that’s more than three times the amount of weddings I’d usually shoot and edit during this time period in a ‘normal’ year. So, with such an increase in work to undertake and complete, it’s been inevitable that it is taking me longer to edit every wedding, as there are so many more weddings to edit with less time to edit them in.
I’m pleased to say that the editing time hasn’t increased in line with the amount of extra work I’ve had to take on this wedding season – so though I’ve shot more than three times the usual amount of weddings in such a short period, I’m not taking more than three times longer to deliver each wedding.
This is because I’m working hard to ensure that I deliver your (and every one of my couples) wedding gallery as soon as is possible. This means working every hour I can, with long days and nights (and many coffees!) in front of the computer, which enables me to send out weddings as soon as I can.
My main priority though is always to ensure each wedding is perfectly edited before sending it out. So I’m ensuring I spend all the time needed on your wedding gallery and I’m sure you would expect nothing less from me.
Above all, I know how much you’ll be so looking forward to seeing your images when they’re ready. Therefore I can completely understand if you’re thinking of reaching out now or in the future for an update. However, every wedding takes a very different amount of time to edit – as every wedding is completely unique – so it’s difficult to provide an individual ETA for how long it will take any wedding to be edited, including yours.
Having said this, I am very happy to provide the following information, which I hope will be helpful. As one of my couples you will know I always try to provide as much information to you as possible and always aim to keep you updated as much as I can.
So with this in mind, here’s the current editing information I can happily provide – please note, I won’t have time to update this blog daily, it will more likely be every few weeks. Also the approximate editing time may go up or down – and the timescale is not exact. But I do hope it gives a rough indication of how long to expect after your wedding date that you will receive your images.
- Current approximate editing time for 2021 weddings – 12 to 16 weeks
- I am currently editing weddings that occurred in – early October
- Busiest months – 90% of our weddings took place from July ’til end of October, with August and September being the busiest months, even then, October was our busiest ever October.
Now, importantly, when your wedding is nearing being finished, I will get in touch with you to let you know that your images will be sent across to you very soon. So please be assured that I will be keeping in touch with all the relevant information and this is not the last update I will send you. In fact the next email you receive from me will be a really exciting one – saying your images are nearly ready!
Again, thanks to you and all our couples for being so understanding and for being so patient. I’ve tried to take care to empathise with every one of you as you planned your wedding over the last few crazy years. It’s been incredibly difficult for every one of you, dealing with such uncertainty. Empathy is key in my business and none more so than in 2020 and 2021. So thanks in turn for empathising with me and understanding that a slight extra wait for your images is unavoidable.
As I’ve said many times now, this has been the best wedding season ever for me – but it’s definitely been the busiest too. We had a baby back in July and Hollie has been so incredibly supportive, looking after our family as I’ve concentrated on work. Hollie really is an amazing, I cannot say that enough. Now I’m at home more, I can of course be more involved with our family as is so important – editing or uploading galleries with a sleeping baby Hugo on me is my new look!

Of course you may choose just to wait for that very exciting email telling you your images are nearly ready. As mentioned above, as soon as your wedding is getting close to being delivered, I will be in touch to update you. I recognise it’s really important to keep you updated as much as I can at this very busy time.
